Welcome Party for International New Students of SEIEE

On September 11th, a group of new exchange students coming from Germany, France, Ukraine and so on arrived at SEIEE to start their new school year in SJTU. To help these foreign students who cannot speak Chinese quite well, members from Students of International Communication Association (SICA) prepared an orientation with rich content and in various forms. Since the goal is to form a warm atmosphere and help them start their study life and campus life smoothly, teachers Ms Chen miao and Ms Ma Jun introduced ElectSys, available courses, rules and exam principles to provide detailed guide.

After that, students from SICA introduced SJTU and SEIEE’s history, culture and achievements to the exchange students. Moreover, they prepared a “Living Guide” to all the exchange students, including detailed information about supermarket, canteens, SIM cards and so on.

When the indoor part ended, the campus tour started. The route covered most living area, such as SEIEE building, Information and Network Center, school buildings, canteens, Hualian living center and the Siyuan gate. Under SICA students’ help, they successfully get their Jaccount registered and local SIM card bought.

After the trip around the campus, SICA students led the exchange students to a big Chinese meal to celebrate their arrival. Since they have only tried “Chinese food with local flavor” in their own country, this meal was really impressive to them, which could be easily told from their admirations. Another surprise that day was the birthday celebration of a French boy. By that day, he just turned 21, so the SICA students prepared a birthday cake secretly for him. Under the light of candles, students from different countries sang the birthday song together and drew a touching period for the orientation day!
