Delegation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology Visits the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering for Journal Collaboration

On May 23rd, Bryan Vickery, Global Head of Research and Academic Markets at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), led a delegation to visit the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University to discuss journal collaboration. Vice Dean Linghe Kong and Haojin Zhu warmly welcomed the IET delegation on the Minhang Campus. The collaboration meeting was attended by five members from IET including Journal-Publisher Kruna Vukmirovic, Director-Asia,Pacific Rongqi Na, Academic Business Development Manager for China Natalie Sun, as well as seven representatives from SEIEE, including Associate Professor Xiaoju Dong and Associate Researcher Jing Ke from the Department of Computer Science, Associate Professor Yue Zhao from the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Director Kaiyue Qi from the Center for Engineering Education. The meeting was hosted by Vice Dean Linghe Kong.

At the beginning of the meeting, Haojin Zhu introduced the faculty, student body, and teaching and research activities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and SEIEE. He expressed his expectation that this meeting would serve as a starting point for establishing a long-term collaboration, leveraging the strengths of both parties to promote the establishment of a new journal.

Bryan Vickery expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the reception by SEIEE and highly praised the international academic achievements of its faculty and students in recent years. He provided an in-depth introduction to the background and current status of IET and expressed a positive outlook on establishing substantive cooperation between the two parties in the future.

Kruna Vukmirovic further elaborated on the superior features of the IET online research platform for article development, including enhanced content accessibility, discoverability, and impact. She also provided a detailed overview of the current journal collaborations, the value IET can offer, and the key steps to establish future cooperative relationships.

The IET team also introduced its authoritative database, Inspec, and vividly demonstrated how Inspec's precise indexing for each article effectively enhances the discoverability and accuracy of the content. They used publications from our professors as examples, showing how Inspec enables readers to quickly and conveniently retrieve the most relevant research literature.

Linghe Kong sincerely thanked the guests for their thoughtful introduction and expressed his sincere gratitude for their cooperation. He also expressed an intention to cooperate in the field of engineering in artificial intelligence. He presented a preliminary proposal to the other party from various aspects such as the target field of the proposed journal, the composition of the editorial board, and peer review.

This meeting on future journal collaboration has not only enhanced mutual understanding between the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the School of Electronic information and Electrical Engineering, but also laid a solid foundation for substantial cooperation between the two parties. The discussions concluded in a harmonious and enthusiastic atmosphere. In the future, both sides will maintain close communication, continue to explore and optimize cooperation plans, and work together for the early birth of the cooperative journal.
